Pelmorex – Designing a Data Driven Digital Media Kit

Transforming the Pelmorex Media Kit into a Responsive UX UI Website

Project Overview

The Weather Network parent company of Pelmorex, and MétéoMédia, needed more than a static brochure to tell their story. They had grown from a trusted Canadian weather broadcaster into a data-driven company with powerful weather, location, and audience insights. The challenge was to design a responsive website that acted as a digital media kit — both a sales tool and a brand statement — showcasing Pelmorex’s reach, technology, and ability to deliver smarter marketing solutions.

Problem Statement

The old media kit undersold Pelmorex’s transformation. It positioned them as a traditional media company rather than a data partner. Case studies weren’t easy to browse, technical specs were hard to find, and the overall design felt corporate and outdated. For agencies and brands, the experience didn’t reflect the depth of Pelmorex’s capabilities in data-driven decision making.

Problem Solution

We created a responsive website design that positioned Pelmorex as a leader in weather and audience intelligence. The new digital media kit blended bold storytelling with practical tools for advertisers. Visual overlays inspired by data — latitude and longitude, pressure scales, and density stats — emphasized Pelmorex’s identity as a data-powered innovator. The modular design gave sales teams a living platform they could share in meetings or export as PDFs, helping Pelmorex connect more effectively with clients, agencies, and investors.

Creative Process

The project began with concept sketches that explored Pelmorex’s dual nature: rooted in weather, elevated by data. From these explorations, we developed moodboards and style tiles that tested directions like roots and science and earthy science. These palettes combined deep blues, muted greens, and modern typefaces to balance credibility with innovation. Building on this foundation, we moved into UX UI design sprints. We created high-fidelity prototypes, tested modular flows, and integrated client feedback to refine interactions. By pairing atmospheric weather imagery with scientific data overlays, the final design told the story of Pelmorex’s evolution in both form and function.

Key Features & Flows

The media kit unfolds as a narrative-driven UX UI experience. Visitors are welcomed by a homepage that fuses dramatic weather visuals with animated data overlays, setting the tone for Pelmorex’s repositioning. The About section highlights the company’s heritage and growth into a data company. The Solutions hub presents offerings through bold statistics and client-ready narratives that make complex insights easy to digest.

Case studies are presented like scientific reports — purpose, method, and results — showing measurable outcomes for campaigns with brands like Nikon and Hudson’s Bay. A dedicated Lab section offers thought leadership articles and resources, positioning Pelmorex as an innovator in weather and location data. Finally, the Specs and Guidelines area organizes ad formats into a clear, responsive grid, ensuring agencies can easily move from strategy to execution.

Outcomes

The redesigned media kit positioned Pelmorex as Canada’s weather data innovator. Sales teams gained a responsive, digital-first toolkit that worked across devices, while clients and agencies had a seamless way to explore case studies, specs, and insights. The new platform went beyond aesthetics — it reframed Pelmorex’s identity from a weather broadcaster to a data-driven partner, building credibility, supporting stronger relationships, and helping drive new business.
